The panorama restaurant on the summit for instance revolves around its own axis. Salvenkirchlein

Johanneskapelle is located on the Hohe Salve. Salvenkirchlein is the highest pilgrimage church in Austria and is heartily recommended for every guest. It is consecrated to St John the Baptist. The early Baroque altar with figures of Saints Bartholomew and John date from the year 1666. The name ‘Salve’ is derived from a well-known Latin salutation. According to an oldtradition fires were lit on the mountain summits at the summer solstice. These were said to enhance the power of the sun and banish evil. The view to the fires on the mountains is especially good from the summit of the Hohe Salve. A fascinating view, which enchants and impresses our guests each and every year.

The Salvenkirchlein can be accessed on foot via the lovely hiking paths on the Hohe Salve and also with the Hohe Salve cable car from Hopfgarten. Explore this little church which is steeped in history, up at 1829 metres!
