The state capital of Tyrol is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the region and among the biggest and best known towns in Austria. Here guests staying in our Sportresort will find everything they would expect from a city trip.
In Innsbruck itself you will not only find various opportunities to enjoy an extended shopping tour, but culturally valuable highlights too. From music and promenade concerts to a trip to the theatre or one of the many festivals. In just a few minutes visitors can get from the town up into the mountain realm above the rooftops of Innsbruck.
Since the town can be explored on foot within a day, a day trip from Das Hohe Salve Sportresort to Tyrol’s capital is recommended for all our guests.
Time and again, Innsbruck amazes guests staying in our hotel: The rocks which frame the city, have an almost surreal effect. Innsbruck is also known for its colourful buildings which are located right on the Inn. They are a trademark feature that make Innsbruck’s old town area and are a reminder of the splendour of the medieval era. The Goldenes Dachl is resplendent with 2657 gilded copper shingles above Herzog-Friedrich-Straße and is a landmark feature in the town.
Anyone is looking for more cultural highlights should pay a visit to Ambras Castle. It is here that pieces of art by Rubens, Van Dyck and Velázquez are exhibited. Around the Ottoburg’s residential tower – a part of Innsbruck's ‘Stadtburg’ – area a variety of contemporary and regional shops. The medieval palace with its theatre and own palace gardens tempt you to enjoy a sightseeing tour, thanks to its impressive, Baroque styling.
And should our guests still be in the mood for some city life, then they are well advised to head to Innsbruck for a day trip! It is there that you get to explore the city in the footsteps of the Habsburgs . There isplenty to see - even in a day:
Innsbruck literally means “bridge over the Inn”. As its name suggests, a river which emanates in the Swiss Alps crosses through this well-known city in Tyrol. The city is surrounded by the Karwendel mountains in the north and the Patscherkofel in the south. With 130,000 inhabitants, Innsbruck is the fifth biggest city in Austria.
The historic city centre is also a venue for tourists, so too is the Renaissance period Ambras Castle, which is somewhat outside the city.
By car, Innsbruck is an hour from our Sportresort. Guests staying in the Sportresort can also get to the capital of Tyrol very conveniently, particularly fast and easily by train.
Sights include the Goldenes Dachl in the old town, the Imperial Palace and the medieval city tower. There is so much to discover in Innsbruck – including the following buildings, squares and attractions:
