Hohe Salve – Ski tour track Hopfgarten
This popular ski tour proceeds to the Hohe Salve. It keeps to the very well-tended piste.

What is ski touring?
Ski touring describes a special kind of winter sport on skis. Ski touring can be done completely without using any lifts. Very different muscle groups are worked out in comparison to standard skiing. Since during ski climbing, you are walking up the mountain on skis which have a ski skin attached and are rewarded for what is often a strenuous ascent, with a downhill sweep section. In principle, anyone can learn this sport – key however is good endurance and strong leg muscles. And the right equipment is required too.

What equipment is required for a ski tour?
Skis, bindings, shoes, tour skis, skins, bindings, tour ski shoes:: The basic equipment comprises light touring skis with a binding, which help with your progress on the climb and which can then be set in a fixed position for the downhill. Removable skins prevent you slipping backwards during the ascent.
Clothing: Clothing ought to comprise several layers. Windproof jackets provide chill protection. To keep your hands warm, thin gloves can be worn as well as ski gloves or mittens.
